Sineng Electric Empowers Egypt's 150MW/300MWh Energy Storage Project to Achieve Successful Grid Connection

Sineng Electric, in collaboration with Trina Storage, has recently delivered a major milestone in global energy cooperation with the successful grid connection and commercial operation of the Abydos 150MW/300MWh utility-scale energy storage system in Egypt. This landmark project marks a significant step forward in Sineng's efforts to expand its global footprint and deepen energy collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Located in Kom Ombo, Aswan Governorate, the project is part of a 500MW solar park and represents Egypt's first grid-connected, utility-scale battery energy storage system, filling a critical gap in the country's electric grid for large-scale energy storage applications.

To meet the 220kV grid connection requirement with an available capacity of no less than 150MW, Sineng Electric conducted precise simulations considering system efficiency, high-temperature derating, and reactive power output. Based on the results, the company supplied 36 sets of 5MW Central PCS MV Turnkey Station, each composed of four 1725kW Central PCS units in a margin design. These systems were paired with Trina Storage's Elementa 2 energy storage solution to form a highly competitive configuration, maximizing cost-efficiency and customer value. The product offers exceptional environmental adaptability and reliability, equipped with an intelligent air-cooling thermal control system. Even in the region's extreme conditions of 50°C and high-dust, it maintains efficient and stable operation. Additionally, the standard 40-foot containers significantly improve transportation efficiency and ensure rapid, modular deployment.

Sineng's strong supply chain management capabilities ensured fast-track equipment delivery, while its localized service network enabled commissioning and installation to be completed in just two months. This remarkable performance not only highlights the resilience and efficiency of "Made in China" engineering, but also sets a new benchmark for overseas project execution—showcasing what the industry is now calling "Sineng Speed."

The successful commissioning of the Abydos project delivers a compelling reference case for solar-plus-storage systems in Egypt and the wider North African region. It also marks a pivotal moment in Sineng's global strategy—using Egypt as a launchpad to scale across the emerging markets of Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Moving forward, Sineng Electric will continue to drive innovation in energy storage technology and accelerate its localization efforts worldwide. By providing reliable and high-performance PV+ESS solutions, the company remains committed to advancing global energy transition and building a more sustainable, zero-carbon future.
