Sineng Electric Supports Zambia's 100 MW Maamba Solar PV Project, Advancing Solar Energy in Africa

Maamba, Zambia, October 15, 2026 – Sineng Electric is supporting Zambia's renewable energy development with its high-efficiency central inverters deployed at the 100 MW Maamba PV Power Station in Southern Province, which was commissioned on September 24, 2026. The project will add utility-scale solar generation capacity to the national grid, supporting the diversification of Zambia's energy mix and enhancing its long-term energy security.

Located in Maamba, Sinazongwe District, the project is being constructed by Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd., which serves as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. In July, Jito Kayumba, Advisor to the President of Zambia, visited the project on behalf of President Hakainde Hichilema to inspect the final construction works and preparations for grid connection and commissioning. He described the project as a benchmark for China's support for Zambia's green development and a testament to China–Zambia energy cooperation.

Equipped with Sineng's 3.3 MW and 4.4 MW central inverters, the facility is designed to harness Zambia's abundant solar resources and deliver reliable, efficient power generation.

High-Efficiency Inverter Technology for Demanding Operating Conditions

Designed for utility-scale PV applications, Sineng's 3.3 MW and 4.4 MW central inverters combine high conversion efficiency with robust environmental adaptability. Their capability to maintain full rated output at ambient temperatures of up to 52°C helps ensure reliable operation in hot climates, while maximum efficiency of 99.0% helps maximize energy yield.

The inverters also incorporate Sineng's patented potential-induced degradation (PID) mitigation technology to help reduce power losses associated with PID in PV modules. This capability is particularly relevant in humid environments, such as Zambia's rainy seasons, when the risk of PID may increase. Together, these features support efficient system operation and sustained energy yield throughout the project's 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Advancing Zambia's Energy Diversification Goals

Hydropower has traditionally played a central role in Zambia's electricity supply, leaving the country exposed to fluctuations in hydrological conditions. As electricity demand grows, diversifying the generation mix with solar and other renewable energy sources is increasingly important for enhancing energy security and strengthening power system resilience.

With expected annual electricity generation exceeding 250,000 MWh, the Maamba Solar PV project will help expand the contribution of solar power to Zambia's national grid. The project also aligns with the government's ambitions to reach 1,000 MW of solar power capacity in 2026 and 10,000 MW cumulatively by 2031, supporting the broader development of a more diversified and lower-carbon energy system.

Extending Sinengs Renewable Energy Footprint Across Africa

The Maamba Solar PV project adds to Sineng Electric's experience in deploying solar PV solutions across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), where the company has secured projects totaling more than 18 GW. Through regional subsidiaries, local service centers and warehouse facilities, Sineng has established an operational and service network to support customers and projects across the region.

Building on this regional experience, the company continues to work with project developers, EPC contractors and other industry partners to advance reliable solar power infrastructure across Africa.
